Srinagar, Jan 27: Republic Day was celebrated by Army units with great enthusiasm and traditional fervor at Chowkibal, Panzgam, Kupwara, Kalaruch and Patahiri of Kupwara district.
Flag hoisting and cultural programmes organised by troops of Vajr Division witnessed attendance by not only prominent personalities from the society, civil administration but also from villages and children from all over the district.
As part of celebrations, live streaming of Republic Day Parade was done for the audience to give them a feel of the environment at Rajpath. A cultural programme by students of Hajipir Army Goodwill School, Trahagam was organised on the occasion, to add flavor of patriotism to the entire proceedings. At Patahiri, around 200 school children participated in the traditional parade. It consisted of four marching contigents of the local Territorial Army Battalion followed by a contigent of school children. A tableau depicting customs and traditions of Kashmir formed part of Republic Day celebrations which was appreciated by everyone present in the celebration.
In Tangdhar, many civil and military dignitaries attended the Republic Day celebration, besides parents of the students and the locals. The students put up a colourful cultural programme on the occasion befitting the celebration. In Macchal, the flag hoisting followed by the National Anthem. Thereafter, the students of Army Goodwill School, T-Suntwari and neighbouring schools presented a spectacular cultural programme which was enjoyed by everyone.
In Gurez Valley, the event witnessed the presence of large number of both Army and civil dignitaries. The chief guest presented scholarships to twenty meritorious students.
The Commanding Officer of the Army at Baramulla, Colonel Paramjit Singh, hoisted National Flag at Middle School Chhur in Baramulla.
Large number of locals of the area and school children participated in the celeberations. Commander 10 sector RR, Brigadier AK Tyagi, interacted with the locals on the occasion.
Similar functions were organized at Deliba, Amargarh, Uplona and Sultanpore Kandi by the 52 RR.
