BARAMULLA: Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of Army defused two powerful Mortar shells near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in this north Kashmir district, official sources said on Wednesday.
They said two Mortar shells fired by Pakistani troops during ceasefire violation landed at Sofi Mohalla and Dahan Nambla Uri recently but were successfully defused before an explosion.
BDS of Army was rushed to both the areas and unexploded shells were defused without causing any damage, they said adding had the shells not been defused these would have caused much damage to life and property.
Meanwhile, a woman was killed and several others were injured besides a number of structures were damaged in Pak shelling in Uri sector recently.
Later over 50 families from different border areas were shifted to safer places.
