Kupwara, Jan 28: Security forces today recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation conducted in Karnah area of Kupwara district.

According to official sources, the operation was carried out by the Army and other security agencies in forest area of Rati Tari in sector Taad of Karnah.
During the search, the team recovered four Chinese pistols, seven pistol magazines, three AK magazines, 308 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and one sniper sight.
The recovery was made during a sustained search operation in the forest belt, which is considered sensitive due to its proximity to the Line of Control. Officials said the seized arms and ammunition are suspected to have been concealed for use in militant activities.
Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended use of the weapons.
Search operations in the surrounding areas have also been intensified to rule out the presence of any remaining arms or suspects.
Security forces have maintained heightened vigilance in the Karnah sector in recent weeks as part of ongoing efforts to prevent infiltration and dismantle militant networks operating in the border areas of Kupwara district.
