SRINAGAR, Sept 20: Justice Alok Aradhe today took oath as Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court at a ceremony held at High Court Srinagar.
Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar administered the oath of office to Justice Aradhe.
The notification received from the Union Law and Justice Ministry and the Letter of Authorization by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, authorizing Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar to administer the oath of office to the Judge was read by the Ashok Kumar Koul, Registrar General High Court.
Justice Aradhe was recently transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, taking its working strength to 10 including Chief Justice. Justice Aradhe was earlier senior Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Born on April 13, 1964 at Raipur, Justice Alok Aradhe was enrolled as Advocate on July 12, 1988. He practiced on civil and constitutional, arbitration and company matters in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur and was appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on December 29, 2009 and Permanent Judge on February 15, 2011.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Aradhe said that the legal system can work effectively if there is cooperation between Bench and the bar and hoped that with the cooperation from the bar he will perform his duties to the best of his abilities.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, sitting Judges, Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal, Chief Secretary BR Sharma, Director General Police K Rajendra, DGP (Law& Order) SP Vaid, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Inspector General of Police (Kashmir), Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, former High Court Judges – Bashir Ahmad Kirmani, Muzaffar Jan and Hasnain Massodi, Additional Advocate Generals, Assistant Solicitor Generals, Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, members of bar and other law officers and judicial staff.
