APS Samba emerges Overall Champion at 15th District Fencing C’ship

SAMBA, Oct 17: The 15th Samba District Fencing Championship (2025-26) concluded on a high note at Rani Suchet Singh Stadium Indoor Hall, witnessing enthusiastic participation from 140 fencers representing 16 schools across the district. The two-day event was organised under the supervision of the Samba District Fencing Association and supported by the J&K Fencing Association.
The closing ceremony was graced by Lt. Col. Sumit Katal as chief guest and DDC Member Suresh Kumar as guest of honour, along with several special guests and dignitaries.
In the Under-12 Girls events, Aanshi Rajput (APS Samba), Nyneishia (VVM Ghagwal) and Ruhi (APS Samba) bagged gold medals in Epee, Sabre and Foil respectively. In Under-12 Boys, Vihan Khadotra (APS Samba), Vakshal Samotra (Infant Jesus Hiranagar) and Ritik Sharma (APS Samba) took gold in Sabre, Epee and Foil. In Under-14 Girls, Tejsavani Sharma (Shri Narsingh Vidya Education School), Shanaya Sharma and Sohani Rajput (VVM Ghagwal) clinched gold in Sabre, Epee and Foil respectively, while Parth Khatri, Manish Bhau and Harman Singh won golds in Under-14 Boys.
In Under-17 Boys, Taksham Sharma, Mayan and Manik Badgotra stood out in Sabre, Epee and Foil, while Shreya Rajput, Diksha Manhas and Jiya Jaswal topped Under-17 Girls events. In the Under-19 category, Indoor Stadium Samba dominated boys’ events with golds from Shivang Singh, Manish Kumar and Akshit Sharma. For girls, Aarushi and Ridhima (APS Samba) claimed golds in Epee and Foil.
Army Public School Samba was declared Overall Champion, with consistent podium finishes across all categories. The event was technically supervised by officials Vivek Sharma, Abhay Sharma, Tarun Sharma, and Sahil Sutney. Organiser Rahul Sharma thanked the J&K Fencing Association and contributors for their support in promoting fencing across the district.
