JAMMU, Jan 4: Expressing grave concern over delay in appointing the chairman of State Backward Areas Commission, the People’s Republican Party (PRP) today demanded that immediate steps be taken by the Government to appoint the chairman of the Commission.
The PRP leaders who met here, today under the leadership of its president, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani said that the Commission is headless for a pretty long time due to which it is not functioning and cases of people are pending.
Mir said that the delay in appointment of heads and constitution of various commissions and boards has been a cause of concern for the people of the State as it retards the development and progress.
The meeting demanded that all the commissions and boards be constituted without further delay and the Accountability Commission chairman be given full powers so that he or she can take action on its own which should not be challenged any where.
The meeting among others was attended by Abdul Razak Dar district president Ganderbal, Gh. Mohammed Bhat Hamdarad, Ghulam Mohammed War from Sopore, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh, S Vikram Singh, Pran Nath Raina, Ghulam Ahmed Rather etc.
