COIMBATORE, Apr 13: The Apparel, Made ups and Home Furnishing Skill Sector Council (AMHSSC) will sign two MoUs with Canadian institutions during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to that country during the third leg of his ongoing three-nation tour.
AMHSSC will sign MoUs with Fanshawe College, Ottawa, a leading institution in fashion and apparel technology, and Canada India Education Council, in the presence of Modi and his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper, on April 15.
The MoUs would ensure availability of more trainers in the skill sector and improve the quality of training, ultimately leaving a positive impact on the number and quality of manpower being skilled and provided to the Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing sectors, AMHSSC chairman A Sakthivel said in a release issued here today.
The MoU with Fanshawe College is aimed at greater cooperation between the Canadian partner and AMHSSC in the field of training of trainers and also enriching the Indian expertise on the skill front in the apparel sector.
Sakthivel, who is also the President of knitwear industry body Tirupur Exporters Association, is part of Indian skills mission, a high-level trade delegation comprising chairmen and CEOs from 15 skill sector councils, accompanying the Prime Minister on the current tour. (PTI)
