JAMMU, June 13: Apni Party’s Youth Wing today held a protest demonstration urging authorities to ensure that the examination centers for J&K students appearing for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) are set up in their native districts.
According to a press statement issued here, the leaders and the workers of the Youth Wing assembled at the Ambedkar Chowk and initiated a procession towards the Divisional Commissioner’s office raising slogans against settings up CUET exams at far away location for J&K students. The police attempted to halt the procession, but it resisted and went on. The protesters staged a powerful demonstration at the entrance of Div Com office.
Later, Party’s Youth Wing Provincial president Vipul Bali presented a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, requesting him to take the necessary initiatives to ensure the students are not subjected to hardships by allocating their exam centers outside J&K, or even outside their respective districts.
Bali expressed his concern about the placement of exam centers for Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) students outside the Union Territory (UT), or in some cases outside their native districts, which would cause significant inconvenience and hardships to the students, especially those who are from marginalised backgrounds as they will not be able to afford the financial burdens associated with travel and accommodation outside J&K, a press note issued here said.
The memorandum addressed to Divisional Commissioner was handed over to Pritam Thapa, Assistant Commissioner (AC), Jammu.
Raqeeq Khan, State vice president Youth Wing along with Abhay Bakaya gen secy expressed their concerns regarding the establishment of CUET exam centers for J&K students outside their respective native districts and even outside J&K.
Several senior leaders including Trade Wing Aijaz Kazmi, Parneet Kour, Vaibhav Matoo, Shivam Choudhary, Mangat Ram, Vishal Jotshi, Ashraf Choudhary, Sandeep Vaid, Abhinav Gupta and others also joined the protest.
