Apni Party holds public meeting with nomads in Hiranagar

HIRANAGAR, Oct 02: Apni Party (AP) provincial president, Jammu Manjit Singh has criticized the authorities for negligence of the Schedule Tribe residential areas with regard to developmental activities.
Manjit Singh was speaking at a public meeting organised at Palai area of Hiranagar inhabited by over 150 nomad families. He was accompanied by Ex-MLA Prem Lal, ST Wing State president, Saleem Choudhary, vice president, district Kathua, Iqbal Krishan Mashki, district general secretary, Kannav Khajuria, Khushboo Bhagat, youth and district level leaders.
During the public meeting, the nomads informed Apni Party leaders about their suffering and underdevelopment in their locality and discriminative attitude of the departments in providing them basic amenities.
After hearing them, Manjit Singh assured that they will appraise authorities about their sufferings and worst condition of approach road to the locality so that it can be repaired/black topped.
Manjit Singh assured them all support from the Apni Party.
Ex-MLA, Prem Lal also highlighted developmental issues of Hiranagar in general and said that their party would continue its struggle for rights of downtrodden and neglected sections of society.
Speaking on the occasion, ST Wing, president, Saleem Choudhary said that the ST population is very poor and the benefits of Government schemes should reach every family.
He further said that the nomads are settled alongside the river bank and their locality has become unsafe for which the Government should ensure crate work on the nallah.
“Soil erosion in the area has caused insecurity for the families,” he said.
Khushboo Bhagat insisted on the girl education and appealed to the nomads that their girls should go to school for their self-independence.
Bhagat said that the education system will uplift the women folk and make them independent which is an important aspect for the empowerment of women.
