JAMMU, Sept 20: Apni Party Provincial President, Manjit Singh today demanded reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) community in J&K.
He was speaking at a public meeting in Domana wherein over a dozen people joined the Party under the supervision of Bodh Raj Bhagat who has arranged the meeting of Scheduled Caste and OBC communities.
Ex-MLA Fakir Chand, Madan Lal Chalotra, Jagdish Raj Pandey, Mohinder Bhagat, Sardeesh Rana, Yasir Choudhary and Nagesh Kumar were among others who attended the meeting.
Manjit Singh presided over the meeting and said that Scheduled Caste and OBC communities have faced discrimination and negligence since decades and political parties have exploited them.
“Their localities are under developed and without proper lanes, drains and water supplies. With false and misleading sloganeering, these poor people were deprived of their rights,” he claimed adding that
Apni Party will fight for the genuine rights of these communities.
Singh also said that the government should give 27 per cent reservation to OBC people as the same was promised to them.
Meanwhile, Apni Party leader Bodh Raj Bhagat highlighted various local issues being faced by the SC and OBC communities and alleged that their areas are being ignored in respect of developmental activities.
He appealed to the government to ensure development in all the areas equally without any discrimination.
