JAMMU, Oct 29: Workshop on effects of Electromagnetic Radiation was organized at Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET), here today.
The speaker on the occasion was P S Khalsa in charge Apex Telecom Sector, J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, he appraised the students about the harmful effects of Electromagnetic Radiations caused by Cell phones and other wireless equipments.
He said, “Cell phones emit radiations and during use they are placed very close to head, these radiations are in direct contact with body tissues and the brain. There is a huge probability that part of these radiations might be absorbed by the human body and these radiations have enough energy to rupture intra & inter-molecular links in the tissues and prolonged exposure can even lead to brain tumor. The usage of Cell phones might have an adverse effect on the people who use them more frequently and for longer durations”.
The chief guest, Director YCET, Dr Seema Narain appraised the students to minimize the harmful effects of these radiations by ignoring frequent use of Cell phones for longer durations.
Prominent luminaries present on the occasion were Er B R Verma, Dean Academic affairs, Bhawani Salathia and I S Walia from Training & Placement Cell.
Earlier, Er. Dinesh Gupta Assistant Professor Electrical Engineering Department presented welcome address.
The workshop was co-ordinated by Training and Placement cell and concluded with a vote of thanks by Er Rajnish Magotra, Assistant  Professor Civil Engineering Department.
