AP leader’s vehicle set afire in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sept 1: A vehicle of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party district secretary for Srinagar was torched last night by some unknown persons in Chinkral Mohalla area of Habba Kadal in Srinagar.
An official said that unknown persons last night set ablaze a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number DL12CA-1466 in Chinkral Mohalla area of Habba Kadal.
They said that the vehicle belongs to Jeelani Kumar, son of Abdul Hamid Kumar, who is the district secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party for Srinagar.
They said that the fire was put under control with the help of fire tenders and locals, while the vehicle has suffered severe damage from inside.
Militants this evening lobbed a grenade on a police party in Sherbagh area of Anantnag town, however, no injuries were reported in the incident.
An official said that militants hurled a grenade and fired several rounds towards the police party in Sherbagh. He said that there were, however, no casualties reported in the incident.
The official said that reinforcement has been rushed to the spot and area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
The official said that Special Operation Group (SOG) and CRPF 118 Battalion launched a search operation in Sarda-Bagh forests of Ganderbal district and recovered cache of ammunition from a hideout
He said that during the search operation rounds of AK-47, along with two magazines, loose 9 mm rounds, various other rounds and several hand grenades were recovered.
The official said that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been started.
Meanwhile, Srinagar sector CRPF in a Tweet said: “Rounds of AK-47, along with two magazines, loose 9mm rounds, various other rounds and several hand grenades were recovered, early in the morning by @crpf_srinagar with Ganderbal Police from Sadra Bagh forest area.”
