NEW DELHI: Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Saurabh Partap Singh Laler today declined to accept CBI’s closure report which gave a clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in a case pertaining to riots at Gurudwara Pulbangash in north Delhi on November 1, 1984, where three people were killed .
The ACMM ordered the probe agency to carry out further investigation in the matter. This was the third closure report, filed on behalf of the agency, in the anti-Sikh riots case.
Lakhvinder Kaur, whose husband Badal Singh was killed in the riots, had challenged the CBI’s closure report and filed a protest petition.
The court on October 30, had reserved its order after hearing arguments of the CBI prosecutor and Ms Kaur’s counsel Harvinder Singh Phoolka, on the issue of closure report.
Ms Kaur had also filed another plea, seeking the court’s permission and time to enable her to provide additional information regarding witnesses quoted in the final report of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The CBI submitted that if Ms Kaur provides details of the material witnesses, then it is ready to take up further inquiry, based on the additional evidence. (AGENCIES)
