Anti-Pak protests over killing of civilians, security personnel by terrorists held

JAMMU, Oct 17: Several groups staged anti-Pakistan protests at different places to condemn the killing of civilians and security personnel by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

The fresh protests in different parts of Jammu came a day after terrorists shot dead two non-locals, Arvind Kumar Sah of Bihar and Saghir Ahmad of Uttar Pradesh, in separate attacks in Srinagar and Pulwama districts.
The protesters belonging to different groups set ablaze effigies of the Pakistani Government to denounce its continued support to the terror activities in the Union Territory.
They also paid rich tributes to nine army personnel who lost their lives during the ongoing search and cordon operation in Surankote and Mendhar forests in Poonch district.
Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari expressed deep shock and grief over the killing of two non-local labourers in Ganjipora area of district Kulgam. In a statement issued here, Bukhari termed the incident as extremely brutal where two labourers lost their lives to this insane killing spree while the third one sustained bullet injuries. Bukhari urged that the administration must ramp up their investigations and put in staunch efforts to catch the culprits who try to create an atmosphere of terror in the valley.
CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that the killing of two non-local labourers in Larm Ganjipora area of Kulgam district is unfortunate. Killing innocent labourers who have come here to earn their livelihood is a heinous crime. This is aimed at targeting the interests of people of Kashmir and this is happening at a time when the harvesting season is at its peak, he added.
JKPCC Vice President Raman Bhalla termed the continuous civilian killings as unforgiveable, mindless and condemned the fresh violence in which two non-locals were killed and another injured when unknown gunmen fired upon them in Kulgam district today evening. He expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation and blamed the Government for failing to ensure peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir.
After the target killings of civilians in Kashmir, several security concerns about migrants, non-migrants and other minorities of Kashmir were discussed and debated in an interactive session of prominent Kashmiri Pandits at Roop Nagar here. The interactive session was organised by MK Yogi and attended by Prof AN Sadhu, Dr TK Bhat, RK Bhat, Vinod Pandita, AK Dhar, Shadi Lal Pandita, Sanjay Dhar, Sunil Pandita, etc. During the interactive session, the participants urged the Government to protect the unarmed minorities working in Kashmir. They also pleaded to transfer the PM package employees to some safer place of Union Territory of J&K and other parts of the country.
Peoples Conference (PC) senior vice president and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil condemned killing of innocent people and said that these killings should be stopped at any cost and should be probed. Vakil demanded stern action against culprits who are responsible for these barbaric acts and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to end political uncertainty and insecurity prevailing in the minds of the people of J&K.
All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) staged a protest against the killings of minority community members in Kashmir Valley and urged the BJP-led NDA Government to take stern action against the culprits of heinous crime. Led by Anil Sharma, UT President of AJKPC, scores of Sarpanches and Panches gathered outside the headquarters of the organisation here at Circular Road and staged a demonstration against the selective killings of civilians. They demanded that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi should seriously look into the issue and direct authorities concerned for immediate stringent measures to ensure that killings of innocent people are stopped.
The activists of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena led by its President Ashok Gupta assembled at Rani Talab and held protest. The protestors burned the Paklistani flag and demanded high-level investigation into the selective killing of minorities in Kashmir. They also paid tributes to the army personnel, who attained martyrdom in encounters in district Poonch.
The activists of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal led by Rakesh Bajrangi assembled outside Press Club here and held protest against the Pakistan. Mission Statehood led by its President Sunil Dimple held anti-Pak protest against target killings of civilians in Kashmir. Amid slogans, the activists also paid tributes to the army personnel who attained martyrdom during encounters in district Poonch. Dimple appealed to the misguided youth to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream.
