JAMMU, Feb 16: Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF)–a specialized unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police to check rising menace of drugs, achieved another success today after it foiled a bid to smuggle hashish worth crores of rupees.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) ANTF Vinay Sharma, a specific information was received that a truck bearing registration number JK18B-4710 driven by Arif Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani and accompanied by Amir Hussain Khan, son of Mohammad Afzal Khan, both residents of Bandipora Kashmir is coming from Kashmir valley and going outside J&K UT via Jammu has concealed large quantity of hashish.
Acting over the information, a case FIR Number 01/2022 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu and ANTF team led by DySP Arun Jamwal and Inspector Parveiz Sajjad immediately swung into action and laid Naka at Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Environmental Park in Jammu.
“The truck was stopped by the ANTF team and during its search, 29.800 kilograms of hashish was recovered. Driver along with the other person were arrested in the instant case and truck has been seized”, SP said, adding that Anti Narcotics Task Force is investigating further links and more arrests are expected.
He has appealed to the general public to share information regarding such drug dealers so that appropriate legal actions are taken against them and this menace is uprooted from our society.
