ANTF arrests three inter-state smugglers with hashish

JAMMU, Sept 2: Anti Narcotics Task Force arrested three inter-state smugglers with 13.5 kilograms of hashish.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) ANTF, on a specific input regarding the smuggling of narcotics substances from Kashmir Valley to Punjab via Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the sleuths of ANTF swung into action and laid nakas at various places.
During naka checking, a Mahindra XUV bearing registration number PB65Z-1895 was intercepted and upon checking, 8.750 kilograms of hashish was recovered and seized accordingly, SP said, adding that two persons namely Gurpreet Singh, son of Balvinder Singh of Tanda Hoshiarpur Punjab and Dev Karan, son of late Kulwant Singh of Morinda District Ropar Punjab have been arrested.
SP ANTF stated that the car has also been seized and an FIR under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered.
“Initial investigation has revealed that this consignment was being carried from Sangam area of Kashmir Valley to Punjab. ANTF is investigating forward and backward linkages of this inter-state drug racket”, SP Vinay Sharma informed.
He added that on August 28 this year, ANTF arrested a person namely Khalid Ahmad Khan, son of Gul Mohammad Khan of Sarai Bala Aamirakadal Srinagar with 4.8 kilograms of hashish. On his interrogation, it revealed that this consignment was being taken from Kashmir to New Delhi, SP stated.
SP ANTF Vinay Sharma has appealed to the general public to extend all cooperation and share any information regarding drug dealers so that this menace is uprooted from the society.
