JAMMU, Nov 29: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir has arrested an inter-state narcotics supplier from Agripada in Mumbai after a series of coordinated raids carried out on Wednesday across different parts of the city.
An ANTF official said the accused, identified as Sartaj Ahmed Mansoori, a resident of Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli East, was wanted by in connection with FIR number 15/2022 registered under various sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station ANTF Jammu.
He said the ANTF teams led by DySP ANTF Jammu Ravinder Singh Rakwal and supervised by SSP ANTF Jammu Anwar ul Haq tracked him down and arrested him near Kala Pani Junction on Byculla Road, bringing an important breakthrough in the investigation.
According to him, Mansoori was the key receiver of a commercial quantity of narcotic drugs seized earlier in the case.
“He was allegedly involved in depositing money into the accounts of drug dealers operating in Kashmir,” the ANTF official said, adding that these dealers would then send narcotics concealed in trucks travelling from the Kashmir valley to Mumbai.
Mansoori would receive the consignments on arrival and sell the drugs to local youth in Mumbai for large profits, he said.
The ANTF official further said that the arrest is a major achievement in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks operating between Kashmir and Maharashtra.
The development, he said, is expected to aid further investigation into the larger supply chain and prevent drugs from reaching vulnerable youth.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the ANTF J&K has urged the public, especially young people, to stay away from drugs and cooperate with law enforcement by sharing any information related to drug trafficking.
