ANTF arrests drug peddler with heroin

JAMMU, May 27: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir police, specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, achieved another success after it foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of heroin worth lakhs of rupees.
According to SSP ANTF Vinay Sharma, information was received that a white colour Swift Dzire car bearing registration number HR55AA-6251 driven by Harpreet Singh, son of Satnam Singh of Amritsar is coming from Amritsar to Jammu and has concealed large quantity of heroin in the car.
Acting over the information, a case FIR Number 6/2022 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu, SP said, adding that ANTF team immediately swung into action and laid naka at NHW-44 near Purmandal Morh Kaluchak Jammu.
“The above mentioned car was stopped by the ANTF team and during its search, 272 grams of heroin was recovered which was concealed inside the front right side of window frame of the car. Driver was arrested in the instant case and car has been seized”, SSP Vinay Sharma informed.
He said that Anti Narcotics Task Force is investigating further links, adding that more arrests are expected.
