JAMMU, Apr 9: Stressing that focus should be laid on introduction of latest job-oriented courses, Minister for Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports and Information Technology Imran Raza Ansari today said that these courses would enable the pass-outs to compete with more confidence and vigour in the private sector.
“Our endeavour is to empower the youth by providing employment opportunities through vocational training programs”, he said while chairing a high level meeting of Principals from various Polytechnic Colleges to review the physical and financial achievements under various projects.
Commissioner Secretary Technical Education Kurshed Ahmed Shah, Director Technical Education Parvez Iqbal Khateeb, Secretary State Board of Technical Education N. H. Malik, principals of polytechnic colleges attended the meeting.
Ansari impressed upon the Principals to modernize the training facilities by introducing new technology which would boost self-employment besides help in curbing unemployment in a big way.
He also asked the concerned to give wide publicity to various job-oriented courses offered by technical colleges besides making students aware about the significance of these courses which enables them to earn their livelihood by starting their own venture instead of hankering behind white collar jobs.
Exuding confidence that private technical institutions would supplement the Government efforts in tackling the unemployment problem in the State, he said that a big initiative is being taken to provide job specific professional education to youths.
Meanwhile, the Minister was also informed about the infrastructural damages in different colleges due to September flood.
Earlier, Director Technical Education in his power point presentation apprised the Minister about the various courses offered by Polytechnic Colleges, intake capacity of colleges besides over all progress on construction works of various ongoing colleges’ buildings.
