Ansari inaugurates workshop on Information & Communication Technology

SRINAGAR, June 4: Minister for Information Technology Imran Raza Ansari inaugurated a three day workshop on Information and Communication Technology.
The training workshop has been organized by the Information Technology Department, J&K in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Government of India.
“The present training course will equip the officers in refreshing their IT skills and to introduce basic computer tools to the uninitiated”, the Minister said and emphasized that the changes that are coming about in the Government sector with the advent of various e-governance initiatives will be better handled and appreciated by IT trained workforce.
“We are soon going to launch around 25 services of various departments under the e-district project. Various projects like automation of the Jammu Development Authority, automation of the prisons, automation of the court trial system thru video conferencing system, introduction of SPARROW software based Performance Appraisal Reports by KAS officers are some of the initiatives being undertaken by the IT Department, which will go a long way in bringing in transparency and automation in the working of the Government”, he added.
The Minister also informed that J&K IT Department has taken up the onerous task of training around 7 lakh citizens from an equal number of households under PMDISHA for which MoU has been signed with the Common Service Centre—SPV, GoI, wherein about a lakh citizens have already been trained and certified.
He urged all trainees to come about with innovations in Government process reengineering in their respective domains of work, and assured them of handholding and financial support in making their projects come live.
Secretary, Information Technology Saugat Biswas informed that two trainings with separate training content will be undertaken from the today to June 6 for batches of gazetted and non-gazetted officers totaling 60 trainees.
The training program will cover a wide range of topics ranging from use of computers and internet for office work to areas such as cyber security, use and impact of social media in today’s age and other modern technologies such as crypto currency, ransom ware, artificial intelligence and digi-locker.
Director, NIELIT, J&K VS Krishnamurtee earlier in the day in his welcome address shared the various activities being undertaken by the NIELIT, J&K Chapter.
Additional Secretary, IT Shiv Gupta and various officials of the JaKeGA attended the event.
