JAMMU, Sept 5: Prof Rattan Lal Shant, Shameem Dev Azad, M K Raina and Veerinder Patwari are among the recipients of Harmony India Awards 2022.
Their names were announced at a press conference, held here today by Harmony Cultural Foundation.
In the 8th Edition of Harmony India Awards, the jury council has selected 18 awardees this year for the awards. The awardees are to be felicitated for their extra ordinary achievements and their outstanding contribution to the art, culture, growth and development of J&K and the nation. The award ceremony will be held on 28th October 2022 at Shri Ram Centre Auditorium, New Delhi.
The nominations and selections this year were made by the jury which comprised of Veer Munshi (Artist), Nirupama Kotru (IRS & Culture Ambassador), Krishan Langoo (Music Composer) and Ravinder Kaul (Journalist & Art Critic) in consultation with the President of the Foundation, Romesh Zadoo.
“These honours are the dedicated efforts to recognise, thank, acknowledge, appreciate and encourage the contributions of the creative personalities, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, journalists, sportspersons, and social activists, who have outshined in their respective fields, have brought glory to the success of Jammu & Kashmir and have immensely contributed to the growth and development of our nation” said Singer and Music Composer, Saurabh Zadoo who is the Director of Harmony India.
Announcing the names of the Awardees, Ravinder Kaul, one of the jury members, said that the Lifetime Achievement award for this year is being conferred upon Prof Rattan Lal Shant, eminent author, for his outstanding contribution in the field of Kashmiri, Hindi literature and language. “Pt Bhajan Sopori Smriti Samman is being conferred upon Shameem Dev Azad while National Icon Award is being conferred upon M K Raina, theatre actor and director,” he added.
Shrestha Samman is being conferred upon Veerinder Patwari for his immense contribution in the field of literature while renowned sculptor Rajendar Tiku is being awarded for his contribution in the field of Fine Arts and Brij Kishori Zutshi for her contribution in the field of acting. Harmony India Special Award for this year is being conferred upon Dr Darakshan Andrabi for social work and to NGO Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal, represented by Jitender Singh Shunty for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘State Icon Award’ is being conferred upon Pooja Shali in the field of Journalism, well known singer Jitendra Singh Jamwal in the field of Performing Arts, Kuldeep Handoo for Sports and Nirmala Dhar for Acting. ‘Community Icon Award’ is being conferred upon Sumeet Bhat of Purkhoo Camp, Helpline Humanity represented by Manoj Bhat, Hakhoo Street Animals Foundation represented by Namrata Hakhoo for their community services. Entrepreneurs Surender & Nalini Sadhu are being awarded for promoting culture through their Matamaal venture.
‘Yuva Puraskar’ is being conferred upon Pallavi Sareen founding editor of the Straight Line as journalist and Sunanda Khajuria in the field of Art. The press conference was also addressed by Mushtaq Kak, eminent theatre director and previous recipient of Harmany Award.
