Annual action plan under BBBP scheme discussed at Kathua

Kathua, Aug 6: District Development Commissioner Dr Raghav Langer chaired a meeting to discuss annual action plan of  ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ at DC Office Complex today.
The meeting was attended by Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Chief Planning Officer, Kathua, ACD, Kathua, CEO, Kathua , CMO, Kathua, Project officer, DRDA, Distt. Informatic Officer, Kathua beside others.
While reviewing the progress, the DDC called upon the departments to approach with innovative ideas while making plan of activities to achieve maximum promotion, encouragement and   empowerment of girl child.
The DDC directed Nodal Officer ICDS for conducting surveys to get latest child sex ratio trend in the district.  He stressed on identifying the blocks having adverse sex ratio and intervention through multi-sectoral activities to bring out improved girl child sex ratio.
The meeting decided the outreach activities shall be taken as mission mode involving departments viz health, education, social welfare, information, NYK, rural development besides ensuring participation of PRI’s, citizens, Community organizations and students for the success of the programme.
The DDC impressed upon the departments to spread massive awareness through programmes such as symposium, debates, poster/ painting competition, rallies, nukkad nataks, wall paintings etc through inter-department coordination.
He directed Programme Officer ICDS Kathua to orgainse workshops for women involving women panch and sarpanchs. CEO Kathua was directed to ensure the conduct of self defense for girl students, rally of school students, debate and quiz competition, exposure tours, besides identification of girls children who stand meritorious for their felicitation.
DC directed CMO Kathua and PO ICDS to activate field functionaries like multipurpose workers,  AWWs and ASHA workers to make people aware about the importance of girl child and bring an attitudinal change among the people about the girl child. He also directed CMO to make Women Health Helpline functional so that women even from far off areas can get medical advice from gynecologist through telephone. He also called for ensure strict implementation of PC&PNDT Act, further directed CMO to ensure no sex determination shall be done at any government and private health institutions.
DDC disclosed that the feature of telemedicine will be activated in district hospital and steps are taken to make telemedicine facility available at remote health institutions like CHC Bani, PHC Bhoond, CHC Billawar and PHC Lohai which shall also  be utilized for women specific ailments and advice from specialists.
