Anganwadi workers raise demands

JAMMU, July 13: Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association here today held a meeting under the chairmanship of Swarna Choudhary, Association president and raised demands.
Speaking in the meeting Association leaders demanded enhancement of Rs 500 for all Anganwadi workers and helpers, order for which was passed by the Governor.
They also demanded one month extra wages @ Rs 5600 on account of election duty but were paid Rs 3700 for that which was their old grade.
The Association expressed resentment against Government’s move for involving Panches and Sarpanches for distribution of salaries to Anganwadi Workers and said that it may lead to exploitation of poor female workers.
Ashok Choudhary, Associa-tion In-charge and Neelam Sharma, General Secretary, Koshalya Devi, Perseno Devi, Veena Devi, Kamlesh Kumari, Sureshta Devi, Santosh, Soba, Sunita, Nirmal, Rittu and others were also present in the meeting.
