JAMMU, Sept 15: Anant Chaturdashi was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety today.
In this connection, a Maha Yagya was solemnized by Nagbal Prabandhak Committee Anantnag at Suriya Bhawan Paloura top today in which a large number of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu besides the Biradari member from Anantnag town participated.
The function was held under the chairmanship of M K Bambroo president of the Committee. The hawan started yesterday evening and bhajan Kirtan continued during the night upto this afternoon.
After the Puranahuti, the devotees were served with prashad. The celebrations could not be performed at the historical Nagbal shrine at Anantnag due to present unrest there.
Another function was held at Mata Roop Bhawani temple Sharda Colony Patoli Brahmana where the relic of Mata was displayed for darshan of devotees.
A large number of devotees attended the function and paid obeisance to Mata. They were also served with prashad. The devotees performed the pooja -archana and Bhajan Kirtan which continued for the whole day.
