Amway inaugurates first manufacturing facility in India

JAMMU, Dec 28: Amway’s first Manufacturing facility in India was inaugurated today at a function held at Chennai. Amway India Enterprises Private Limited is India’s largest direct selling FMCG Company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Amway Corporation, USA.
Amway’s first manufacturing facility in India is located at Nilakottai in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu. This is Amway’s third manufacturing plant located outside of USA. The other plants are located in China and Vietnam. Amway has spent in India, more than 30 per cent of the USD 335 million allocated for global expansion.
Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu Selvi J Jayalalithaa inaugurated the facility in the presence of senior management of the company, connected with select employees via a video conference and officially inaugurated the plant. Present on the occasion were  P Thangamani, Minister for Industries and Transport, Government of Tamil Nadu, and Anshu Budhraja, CEO, Amway India.
Doug DeVos, President, Amway Corp, said, “The manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu is another example of Amway’s belief in the Indian market and reiterates our commitment to ‘Make in India, Make for India.’ We believe the facility is amongst the very best in the nation. The state-of-the-art operations will further strengthen our efforts to develop India-specific products, which should support greater growth and meet the increasing demand of consumers”.
Samir Behl, Regional President, Europe, Africa and India, Amway Corp, said, “We see huge potential in the country for direct selling as has been validated by number of reports in the recent past. Our studies indicate that the spirit of entrepreneurship in the country is very high and we will continue to work on ground to enable individuals, especially women, to realise their true potential. We are keen to participate and contribute to India’s growth story”.
Anshu Budhraja, CEO, Amway India, said, “We have invested more than Rs 800 crores in the country. The plant will provide direct employment to more than 400 people. Post the launch, Amway India will provide direct and indirect employment to more than 3000 people in India. Currently, the company provides income-generating opportunity to over 550,000 active independent Amway Business owners (ABOs) or distributors”.
