JAMMU, Jan 17: Ammucare Charitable Trust is conducting a five day workshop at New Modern College, Sainik Colony from January 19 to 25.
According to Anjali Kamat, an experienced facilitator, who has many such empowerment workshops to her credit said that this workshop will impart knowledge in paper weaving, creating useful items out of old newspapers.
She said that the programme aims to foster emergence of a skilled and effective business sector wherein social enterprises, founded by and in poor urban and rural communities are deriving wealth from the provision of environmental services and derivative recycling and re-use activities.
The waste is therefore becoming the catalyst for their income generation and creating employment opportunities, she informed.
“Anything which we discard is considered as waste, which we by default consider useless. But this is not true. This is precious wealth we are discarding. This waste can be converted into wealth. Everyone can do it from individuals to mass scale. This will solve many problems”, Kamat added.
