JAMMU, Sept 14: Amit Sharma, Special Secretary Transport Department with additional charge of J&K Road Safety Council, today reviewed at length the working and functioning of Electric Buses which are plying on different routes of both the capital cities since last few months.
Amit Sharma took a thorough review of the performance of Electric Buses in J&K, especially on Jammu routes where they are operational since May, 2019. It came into knowledge that Jammu-Katra route is the best performing route and the same needs to be revived immediately. Amit took a route-wise performance review for both Jammu and Srinagar cities and directed SRTC authorities to re-define the routes and timings of E-Buses as per past performance and practical experience of running these buses. He also directed to give wide publicity to safe, comfortable and secure commutation of E-Buses through print and audio-visual media to maximise the usage and popularity amongst the general public.
Amit Sharma also directed SRTC to implement recent decisions of SRTC review held at Srinagar under the chairpersonship of Advisor K Skandan wherein they were directed to immediately go for soft loaning through J&K Bank for installation of additional Charging Stations which is much needed due to regular movement of buses in capital cities and implementation of ITMS as a major eGovernance tool for bringing total transparency in operations of SRTC at the earliest.
