Amit mentions Food Processing as SIDCO’s thrust sector

New Delhi, Sept 18: Managing Director J&K SIDCO Amit Sharma mentioned Food Processing Industry as one of the major thrust areas and top priority sectors for all the intending entrepreneurs who are inclined to set-up industrial units in the State.
This was stated by him while addressing an august gathering during two-day International Food Innovation Conference 2015 organized by PHDCCI in New Delhi.
Amit made an impressive presentation about Government Schemes, Policies and Initiatives for supporting Innovation, Ecosystems in Agriculture and Food Processing Industry. He talked at length about possibilities in Food Processing sector and the thrust of Government in exploring scope of innovative practices in this sector. He also mentioned that CA Stores are coming-up in a big way through assistance of various State and Central Government departments. He also talked about regional zonations of J&K and favourable areas in State which are having great potential of setting-up units for various fruits and fruit-related products.
Other participants in panel discussion alongwith MD SIDCO Amit Sharma were H.K Mittal, Adviser, Member Secretary, National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Ministry of Science & Technology, GoI, Dr Jyoti S.A Bhat, Scientist ‘G’, DSIT, Ministry of S&T, Ranjan Sinha, Director, NAPL Advisors Pvt Ltd and Raghvendra Ranjan, Dy. Director Industries, Government of Bihar who had healthy interaction within themselves apart from addressing various queries of huge gathering at the International Conference. Ms. Carolina Vasquez, Trade Commissioner, Embassy of Chile and Scott S Sindler, Counsellor for Agricultural Affairs, Foreign Agricultural Services, Embassy of USA also shared their views on this Food Innovation issue.
Amit Sharma was honoured by the PHD Chamber for providing his valuable inputs and for extending an open invite to the industry while assuring them total facilitation role for setting-up innovative food processing units in State’s. Lot of prospective entrepreneurs showed keen interest towards entering J&K after understanding State’s natural topography favouring food processing industry in J&K, apart from provision of cheapest land and power facilities in the state for setting-up these units which were disclosed during address by MD, J&K SIDCO.
