NEW DELHI : The Lokpal Bill, seeking to provide for establishment of lokpal at the Centre and lokayuktas for states, was today presented in the Rajya Sabha amid uproar, after having been considered by the Select Committee of the House.
Amid uproar by the Samajwadi Party members, who were demanding a discussion on the price rise suspending all other businesses, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasamy moved the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, 2011, as passed by the Lok Sabha and as reported by the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha, for consideration of the House.
The Bill has been moved with 13 amendments suggested by the Select Committee.
The proposed legislation, which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha, was referred to the Select Committee after it came in the Rajya Sabha.
The Select Committee, which includes Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, has suggested several amendments in the Bill. (AGENCIES)
