SRINAGAR, Oct 9: Minister for Horticulture, Hajj & Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said the Government is evolving a comprehensive strategy to regulate the tariff for transportation of fruit from Kashmir to different parts of the country.
“Horticulture being the backbone of State’s economy needs special consideration and all out efforts are being made to curb overcharging and profiteering by the transporters”, the Minister asserted.
The Minister was replying to the issue raised by B A Veeri in the Legislative Council regarding regulation of tariff for transportation of fruit to different parts of the country during ensuing export season.
Charanjeet Singh, while intervening on the issue, stressed on safeguarding the interests of transporters during formulation of such a policy.
Meanwhile, several other legislators also raised issues of public interest in the Legislative Council during Zero Hour.
Vibodh Gupta demanded formulation of comprehensive transfer policy for female teachers serving away from their homes. He also demanded early release of selection list for class-IVth vacancies in district Rajouri and other selection lists for various posts in other departments for which interviews have already been conducted by SSB.
Shehnaz Ganie sought Government assurance for establishment of Degree College at Mandi in district Poonch.
Ghulam Nabi Monga highlighted the issue of delay in issuing notification for establishment of AIIMS in Kashmir and Jammu. Sajad Ahmad Kichloo pitched for early distribution of solar lights in un-electrified areas of Kishtwar.
Surinder Kumar Choudhary called for advancement of border fencing 10 kms ahead to facilitate cultivation on the land holdings by the inhabitants living along the borders. He also demanded widening and extension of all roads constructed by BRO and GREF in Nowshera.
Naresh Kumar Gupta stressed for expeditiously pursuing the proposal for establishment of National Institute of Medicines in Chenab valley with Union Government.
Surinder Ambardar sought Government assurance regarding introduction of Temples & Shrines Bill in the next Assembly session.
Saif -ud-Din Bhat pitched for renaming of Srinagar Airport as Sheikh -ul-Alam International Airport.
Responding to the issue, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Hanjura asked the legislator to bring a resolution in the house for renaming Srinagar Airport as Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport.
