Shri Amarnath Shrine Board will provide an insurance cover to the registered pilgrims during pilgrimage.
“On the instructions of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, all intending pilgrims possessing valid registration will be provided an insurance cover of Rs 1 lakh against accidental death within the state during the period of this year’s Yatra,” Navin K Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer SASB in a statement issued here said.
He said the insurance cover will be available to all registered Yatris for the period commencing one week ahead of the commencement of the pilgrimage and ending one week after the conclusion of the Yatra.
“The insurance will cover any accidental death which takes place anywhere in the state while travelling onward to the Yatra Base Camps as well as while moving on the Yatra tracks,” the CEO said.
He, however, requested all pilgrims in their own interest, not to embark on the Yatra without obtaining valid registration after securing a Compulsory Health Certificate.
“Possession of a valid Yatra Permit would also enable the pilgrims to be covered by Accident Insurance,” he added. (AGENCIES)
