LEH, Dec 11: A delegation comprising members of All Ladakh Students Welfare Association Chandigarh (ALSWAC) called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) in New Delhi.
Members of ALSWAC raised several issues regarding the welfare of students from Ladakh studying in Chandigarh, viz. establishing a dedicated hostel for students in Chandigarh; uninterrupted winter flight services from Chandigarh to Ladakh along with a dedicated and sincere liaison officer and separate examination centre in Chandigarh for Ladakhi students appearing in DSSRB examinations.
They also demanded establishment of a Research/Think-Tank Institute in Ladakh; removing Bachelors of Education (BEd) as a mandatory qualification for recruitment to the posts of lecturers in UT Ladakh; immediate filling of vacant gazetted and non-gazetted posts in Ladakh; prioritizing permanent recruitment of youth instead of opting for outsourcing jobs, etc.
The LG assured to look into their issues and demands.
