REASI, Oct 6: The finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition being organized as part of ongoing Navratra will be held tomorrow at Yog Ashram at Katra.
This was stated by Rakesh Wazir, Chairman of All India Devotional Song Competition Committee while interacting with media persons here today.
He informed that the Competition started 23 years back with the main aim to provide platform to the singers from all over India in the holy township of Katra viz promotion of the tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Parvez Dewan, Former Advisor to the Governor and brain behind this competition, Pahlaj Nihlani former chairman Central Board of Film Certification and renowned film maker and introducer of Govinda, Chinky Pandey, Neelam etc. in the film industry, Ganesh Jain Chairman-cum-Managing Director Venus Records and Tapes Limited and maker of more than 45 movies, Mannat Noor famous playback singer, Kumar Mohan Trade Analyst and film maker, Rishi Raj film maker, Kumar Mohan Trade Analyst and film maker and Barkha Arora Vice President Zee Network has accepted to be the Judges of the competition in the final”, Wazir informed.
He said that the live telecast of the final of the competition will be available on Shardha Mh One from 8.30 pm onwards besides its re-telecast on many more channels, adding that the entry for this event will be free to all. The people will see the live performances of Mannat Noor, Navin Punjabi and Sonali Dogra in the event, he stated.
Pahlaj Nihlani while speaking on the occasion said that this competition has given platform to many singers for their entry into Film Industry, adding that these types of platforms are good for budding artists to prove their strength and for making music as full fledged profession.
Ganesh Jain said that this festival is not a festival only but it is a devotion to Maa Vaishno Devi. This competition has contributed a lot to the State and has given platform to many singers in the film industry, he added.
In the competition, 8 participants qualified for the semifinal including Ananya Sharma from Udhampur, Pranbha Sharma from Jammu, Mahinder Soni from Jammu, Sushmita from Jammu, Pinka Bali from Jammu, Sunny Salim from Punjab, Kripal and Rash Pal Brothers from Amritsar, Simran Simmi from Ludhania. Two contestants were kept in the waiting list including Vijay Kumar from Himachal and Vikas Sharma from Himachal. These 8 winners competed with the 1st position holders of daily preliminary round winners in the semifinal.
Samungal Arora famous playback singer performed live on the occasion. Chaman Lehri famous playback singer too gave his performances and mesmerized the audience.
