All districts of Valley to get EOCs: Div Com

SRINAGAR, Aug 19: To combat any natural calamity or disaster and to safeguard property and lives of people, the Divisional Administration Kashmir is working on a proposal to establish Emergency Operation Centres in all the districts of the Valley.
This was disclosed in a high level officers meeting held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon here today.
The meeting was attended by all the Deputy Commissioners of the Valley, Chief Engineers of R&B, Flood Control, Police and other officers.
The Div Com stressed upon all concerned authorities for preparation of Disaster Management Plan and submission of the same to higher authorities for accord of sanction.
It was disclosed in the meeting that in Budgam district 80 kanals of land in Rangreth area has been identified for the proposed Emergency Operation Centre and a Police Control Room will also be set up there, while as in Pulwama district, the Emergency Operation Centre would be set up at old DC Office, Pulwama.
The Div Com was apprised that 70 kanals and 50 kanals of land respectively has been identified for establishment of Emergency Operation Centres at Khember and Sampora and in Kupwara district, Negaripora village has been identified for proposed Emergency Operation Centre while as at Degreebal Ganderbal has been identified for the proposed Emergency Operation Centre for Ganderbal district and Inhandan village has been identified for setting up of Emergency Operation Centre for Shopian district. He was informed that in other districts the land is being identified for this purpose.
The Div Com was informed that temporary Emergency Operation Centres have been identified in all District Headquarters.
