All CBSE, JKBOSE exams postponed till Mar 31

JAMMU, Mar 18: In view of the Corona Virus outbreak, all scheduled examinations of J&K Board of School Education as well as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and JEE-Main have been postponed till further orders.
Chairperson of JK BOSE, Prof Veena Pandita told the Excelsior that all the Board examinations, scheduled from tomorrow, have been postponed till further orders.
“As a precautionary measure in view of COVID-19 outbreak, all the ongoing examinations of JKBOSE for classes 10th, 11th and 12th, which are being held across the Jammu and Kashmir from March 19 to March 31, 2020, are being postponed,” she said and added that the rescheduled dates would be communicated separately.
The examinations, scheduled to be held on March 19 and March 31, are also among the postponed exams.
Earlier, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) today directed the CBSE and all educational institutions in the country to postpone exams till March 31 in view of the Coronavirus outbreak.
“While maintenance of academic calendar and exam schedule is important, equally important is safety and security of students who are appearing in various examinations as also of their teachers and parents,” HRD Secretary Amit Khare said in an official communication.
All ongoing examinations of the Board for classes X and XII, being held in examination centres in Indian and abroad, and scheduled between March 19,2020 to March 31, 2020 (both dates inclusive), shall be rescheduled after March 31, said a communiqué in this regard, issued by the CBSE..
Further, all ongoing board exams related evaluation work in various evaluations centres in the country has also been suspended up to March 31, 2020. All Centre Nodal Supervisors may ensure rescheduling of evaluation work from April 1, 2020 unless otherwise informed by the Board, adds the CBSE communiqué.
According to HRD Ministry’s National Testing Agency (NTA), Joint Entrance Exams (JEE-Main) for admission to IIT and Engineering Colleges have also been postponed. The exam was earlier scheduled from April 5-11, 2020.
“The JEE-Main exam has been postponed. The new date will be decided in accordance with the board exams schedule and other competitive exams to ensure there is no clash,” said a senior NTA official.
However, the ICSE board exams for class 10th and 12th have not been postponed notwithstanding the Corona virus outbreak.
“The exams have not been postponed and will be held as schedule as of now,” board chief executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon said in a clarification, which was issued today following the postponing of exams by CBSE, HRD Ministry’s National Testing Agency and all the universities till March 31.
