All cancelled trains to resume operations from May 31 onwards

Temporary augmentation of addl coaches in two trains

JAMMU, May 28: After more than nine months, normal rail traffic to and from Jammu will be fully restored from May 31 onwards with the completion of restoration work on railway bridge number 17, located between Kathua and Madhopur rail section, which was severely damaged last year due to flash floods.

Major cancelled trains, which are being restored from June, include; Train Nos. 12549, 12550, 19415, 19416, 20847, 20848, 20985, 20986, 22941, 22942, 12207, 12208, 14611, 19107, 19108, 22705, 22706, etc.
Besides announcing resumption of these trains from June, Jammu Division has decided to add additional coaches to Train No. 12426 ( Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express) and 04082 ( Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Express) in view of the extra rush of passengers and rising waiting list during the summer holidays.
According to an official spokesperson, the Down side track between Kathua and Madhopur rail section will be restarted from June as the restoration work of Railway Bridge number 17, is nearing completion,
Earlier, due to repairs on the railway bridge, only the Up side single railway track was operational. With both Up and Down side railway tracks fit, rail traffic will run smoothly and efficiently, spokesperson explained.
The interlocking work on this section will be completed on May 31, 2026, and from June, train movement on both Up and Down lines will resume normally, spokesperson added.
Major trains being restored from June, include; MCTM Udhampur SF Express, Durg SF Express, SMVDU Katra Express, Sabarmati Express, MCTM Udhampur Weekly SF Express, MCTM Kota Express, Indore Weekly SF Express, Jammu Tawi Garib Rath Express, Kothgodam Garib Rath Express, SMVD Katra Weekly Express, MCTM Udhampur Janmabhoomi Express, Bharnagar Terminus Janmabhoomi Express, Jammu Tawi Hamsafar Express and Tirupati Hamsafar Express.
Restoration of the track will not only ease movement for passengers travelling to Jammu, Katra, and Mata Vaishno Devi, but also facilitate freight transport, commercial activities, and military logistics. All trains will run as per their scheduled timings, routes, and halts, said spokesperson of the Railways, requesting passengers to check the updated status of trains from NTES/139 or the official railway website before commencing their journey.
Meanwhile, in view of the extra rush of passengers and rising waiting list during the summer holidays, Jammu Division has decided to add additional coaches to Train No. 12426 ( Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express) and 04082 ( Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi Express).
In the Rajdhani Express, one additional Third AC (3AC) coach will be temporarily augmented from June 6, 2026 to June 12, 2026 while in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – New Delhi Express, one Sleeper Class coach will be temporarily augmented from June 6, 2026 to June 13, 2026.
With this decision, more passengers will be able to travel in reserved class. Booking for the additional coaches will soon be made available at all reservation centers and on the IRCTC website.
Commenting on these important developments, Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, said: In view of the growing demand during the summer season, the decision has been taken to add additional coaches while resumption of cancelled trains will fully restore the train traffic on this section providing relief to thousands of passengers travelling to Jammu, Katra, and Mata Vaishno Devi besides facilitating freight transport and commercial activities.
