RANCHI, Aug 28: Peeved at the Centre for not considering Jharkhand to accord special status along with Bihar, AJSU Party today announced a series of programmes to drum up public support demanding a special economic package for the state.
“Jharkhand meets all the eight yardsticks under Gadgil Formula for being considered for the special status,” party president Sudesh Mahto told reporters here.
Recalling ‘Gadgil Formula’ for considering a state for special status as adopted by the National Development Council in 1969, the former deputy chief minister claimed Jharkhand met all the criteria.
AJSU would kick off its protest programmes from a day-long hunger strike at all district headquarters on August 30, he said. (PTI)
