JAMMU, Sept 23: The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today demanded the reinstatement of the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) in Jammu and Kashmir and announced the launch of a movement to protect the rights of people, claiming that all political parties have failed to address issues of people.
Shafiq Mir, Chairman of the AJKPC, told reporters that they have launched a movement in the UT to protect people’s rights, claiming that all political parties have failed to raise even genuine issues because their leaders are corrupt from head to toe.
He demanded the reinstatement of the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) in Jammu and Kashmir with onetime inclusion of West Pakistan refugees living in the Union Territory. “All other state subjects should be limited to those that have already been defined and identified in the J&K PRC system,” he said.
He said that they have prepared a five-point charter of demands to fight for people’s rights. “All types of J&K-level jobs should be reserved for local youth,” he said, adding that residents of Jammu and Kashmir should not be charged for electricity or water because both entities are produced using local resources.
He said all types of mining contracts given to outsiders should be terminated and allotted to local contractors.
