AJKPC demands judicial commission to unmask killers

JAMMU, May 9: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), the frontline organization of elected Panchs and Sarpanchs today demanded setting up of a judicial commission to unmask the killers who are selectively targeting the innocent Panchayat members in the State.
AJKPC president, Anil Sharma, while condemning the killing of Sarpanch Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, who was shot at by gunmen in Wanpoh village of Kulgam on Thursday, said he is the 9th Panchayat member who has been killed in violence against Panchs and Sarpanchs.
Accusing the State Government for its failure to protect the lives of the Panchayat members, the AJKPC president said, “We demand a judicial panel in time bound manner to unmask the killers, whether they are coming from across the border or they are locals.”
The AJKPC also reiterated its demand of sufficient ex-gratia amount for the next of kin of the martyr Panchayat members besides Government job for at least one family member.
