JAMMU, June 20: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) has appealed the Government to start/expedite work on already sanctioned tourism projects in Jammu and complete the same on priority.
Raising the issue during its meeting held through video conferencing, Chairman of AJHLA Inderjeet Khajuria and president Pawan Gupta said that Corona pandemic and continuous lockdowns have broken the backbone of the tourism fraternity, particularly that of budget hoteliers. They said Hotel industry is passing through the worst phase of time and is unable to stand on its own legs without the active support of the Government.
They said recent inspectional visits of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer to various prestigious pipeline projects sites like Artificial lake, Suchetgarh Border, Gharana wetland, Heritage Railway Station, Bagh-e-Bahu musical fountains, etc has kindled a ray of hope among the tourism sector and would help to infuse a new life in the stalled tourism sector.
“The expedition in the work on these projects for their early completion would definitely help Jammu to blossom as an independent tourist destination instead of transit camp for the pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and Shri Amarnath Yatra,” Khajuria said and appealed the Government to start work at the earliest with true spirit on the already sanctioned mega projects like Bhagwati Nagar amusement water park, Improvement/ Upgradation of Raghunath Mandir complex, Legendary site of love lore of Sohni Mahiwal at village Hamirpur Siddhar of Tehsil Akhnoor, development of Jhajjar Kotli, etc., and that too in time bound manner.
Pawan Gupta said that delay in timely completion of prestigious projects deprives the public from its taste and at the same time escalates the cost of the projects causing huge financial loss to the government exchequer.
