JAMMU, Apr 10: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association held a meeting here today.
The Chairman of the Association Inderjeet Khajuria expressed serious concern over the plight of Jammu people particularly those connected with tourism sector, who are passing through their worst phase of life due to after-effect of COVID-19 pandemic.
“Tourism sector has been pushed to innumerable hardships rather than any relief from the Government side and the condition of stakeholders has turned from bad to worse because of nil business activity”, he added.
Pawan Gupta, President of the association, expressed disappointment on ignoring the tourism sector particularly the hotel industry from the purview of any relief package from the Government even after repeated requests for the same to the Government. He said that the tourism fraternity such as hotels, lodges, road side eateries, travel agents, tour operators and traders dealing in shawls and handicrafts, dry fruits, taxis, autos, transporters, etc. has been hit badly and passing through a very crucial phase of life because of zero business due to massive fall in the number of pilgrims and tourists from outside J&K visiting Jammu city.
“The COVID waves have broken the back of tourism fraternity and particularly that of budget hoteliers and Government has not even bothered to know our miseries and give any financial assistance despite the recommendations of the same for the finished tourism sector by the committee of parliamentarians”, he added.
Other office bearers present in the meeting were ML Sharma, Anil Khajuria, Pritam Sharma, HS Manhas, Baldev Raj, Sunil Suri, Swarn Singh, Sankul Gupta, Manpreet Singh, Nishant Gupta and Varun Gupta.
