REASI : Minister of State for Finance, Planning, Labour & Employment, Ajay Nanda, today visited various parts of Katra town and inspected the status of several public utilities and ongoing development works.
The Minister also met with a number of deputations who apprised him of the issues and problems faced by them regarding infrastructural and other related issues.
During the tour, the Minister was accompanied by SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria, SDPO Ashok Sharma, Tehsildar Katra and various other officers and engineers of different departments.
The Minister instructed the officers for immediate repair of the street lights and installation of the new ones at the prioritized locations so that local people and tourists do not suffer on this account. He stressed on improvement of water supply and power supply in the interior areas of the towns.
The Minister expressed concern over poor condition of several drains and lanes which need immediate attention and instructed the concerned to include these works in the proposed plans being formulated to improve the existing drainage system in the Katra town.
Regarding issuance of licenses to vendors, the Minister asked the SDM for prioritizing only local people while for registration of ponies and horses the notice should be served to those who have still not applied for the registration of their ponies and accordingly chance be given to the next in row in a time bound manner.
The Minister appreciated the recent move of introducing pre-paid auto booths in Katra and said that this initiative would certainly facilitate the local people and tourists in regulating transport system in the town.
