Ajay Nanda inaugurates Job Fair at Reasi

Urges youth to avail benefits from welfare schemes

REASI: Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda today inaugurated one-day Job Fair at Sports Stadium Reasi here.

The job fair was organized by the District Employment and Counselling Centre Reasi.

The Minister inspected stalls established by different departments including Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, DIC, Handicrafts, Handloom, Agriculture, Horticulture, Apiculture, Mushroom, Urban Development, Sericulture, JKEDI, Banks, Shiv Khori Shrine, ICDS, Narayana Hospital etc.

Addressing on the occasion the Minister said that the aim of organizing such job fairs is to educate and aware the unemployed educated youth about various welfare and job oriented schemes of the Government.

The Minister further impressed upon the youth to avail maximum benefits from the schemes being implemented by different departments and establish themselves as entrepreneurs bringing about a paradigm shift from job seekers to job providers.

The event marked a new and novel initiative by the department in which job vacancies from various establishments were sought and offered to the aspiring job seekers in the job fair after registering them with the Department of Employment and Counselling Center Reasi.

Speaking on the occasion, AD Employment Aamir Choudhary said that the employment department is running five self help group for unemployed engineers besides providing books from library and career counselling services to the students of different institutions and schools. He informed that a total of 2500 unemployment youths have been registered during the last three years.

During the day long fair, the employment department made registration of over 250 unemployed individuals out of which 50 were shortlisted on the spot for various establishments and agencies including Narayana Hospital Kakriyal, Trikuta Agro, CIC security and White Hotel.

Later, a troupe of Information Department comprising Jeevan Sharma and other artists enthralled the audience in the fair.

Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Chander, AD FCS&CA Naseeb Bajran, AD Fisheries Bharat Bhushan and other officers of the various departments were present on the occasion.
