KATHUA, May 21: All India Rice Exporter Association (AIREA) in collaboration with Department of Agriculture and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu organised one day training programme on quality aspect of Basmati Rice for export at Dayalachak.
In the programme, around 250 farmers participated, while all the officers of different zones and Junior Agriculture Extension Officers were also present.
Director Agriculture Jammu, Ajay Khajuria said that best rates can be fetched only by export. He expressed gratitude to Padamshree Dr VP Singh for taking keen interest for the upliftment of farming community by growing export quality Basmati Rice in this area.
The organizer of the programme Sudershan emphasized for sustainable agriculture by making judicious use of pesticides, seed treatment and use of balanced dose of fertilizers.
The technical guidance was imparted to the farmers by Dr Ritesh Sharma, Dr Anil Gupta and Dr Devinder Sharma.
Rohit Gupta, Governing body member of All India Rice Exporters Association (AIREA), aware the participating farmers regarding organic farming and its scope.
Some of the progressive farmers of the locality shared their views with the scientist and highlighted their demands.
Earlier, Chief agriculture Officer Vipan Sambyal presented the welcome address, whereas Dr SS Jamwal, Joint Director Agriculture Jammu presented vote of thanks.
The programme was organised by Sub Division Agriculture Officer Sat Paul Sharma.
