NEW DELHI : Veteran fighter pilot Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo today took over as Director General Air (Operations) at the Air Headquarters.
Commissioned in the fighter stream on 15 June 1979, Air Marshal Deo has 4,000 hours of operational and training flying under his belt.
He has held several important appointments, including the command of the all-important Jodhpur air base, in his long tenure.
A Fighter Combat Leader and a Qualified Flying Instructor, Deo was a flying instructor at the Flying Instructors School, Air Force Station Tambaram.
In another appointment, Air Marshal Daljit Singh took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Gandhinagar- based South Western Air Command.
Commissioned in the fighter stream June 1976, he has flown over 3,500 hours on various aircraft which include Gnats, Ajeets, MiG-21s, Su-30 MKI and Mirage-2000 aircraft.
Singh has held a variety of operational and staff appointments include the command of a frontline fighter squadron, Chief Operations Officer of an operational base and command of a premier fighter base. (AGENCIES))
