As the LG began his address, Khursheed, who was holding placards, started raising slogans against the Government’s policies and demanded justice for the recent killing of two youths-Makhan Din in Kathua and Waseem Ahmad in Baramulla district.
He demanded a judicial probe into these killings and adequate compensation for the family members of the deceased.
He also called for the restoration of Article 370 and 35A and the release of political prisoners.
The AIP MLA further criticised the Government for the recent removal of several Government employees from the service, saying such random decisions have been affecting people’s livelihoods.
Khursheed also opposed the use of the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, claiming these laws were being misused.
As he continued his protest, disrupting the LG’s address, Assembly marshals stepped in and escorted him out of the house, bringing the session back to order.
Later, addressing media persons outside the Legislature Hall, the AIP MLA, said, “My protest was against the civilian killings in Kathua and Baramulla. We lodged the protest to request the Government to compensate the family members of both the slain youth.”
Rashid said he recently met the family members of Makhan Din in Kathua’s Billawar, and they told him that a Minister from the National Conference-led Government had promised them that an FIR into the killing would be registered soon, but it was not done.
