JAMMU, Dec 12: Secretary, All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Dr Manorma Bakshi, who is working across sectors of public health schemes under World Health Organisation (WHO) met various Kashmiri Pandit (KP) women groups at Barnai, Buta Nagar and Muthi and listened to the problems being faced by them.
She expressed concern over the Government for handling the issues of pandit women, which requires a different approach to mitigate their miseries. On one hand the KP women stood firm in facing the torturous exodus and gave support in rebuilding, sustaining and making efforts of survival possible but on the other hand the women in particular face the socio-economic brunt along with health hazards which stand totally ignored, she added.
Dr Bakshi stressed the displaced women to come out from their dark cells and take avail of the skilled development programmes initiated by AIKS.
“We should not confine ourselves. We cannot be mere spectators in this globalised world. We have to fight for women rights also”, she said.
Dr Bakshi urged State and Central Governments to listen to these women and show resilience towards the solutions of their problems.
While speaking, Aryan Ramesh, Secretary, AIKS, J&K, informed the gathering about the aims and objectives of the organization.
