AIIMS Jammu welcomes new MBBS batch with Freshers’ Day

JAMMU, Feb 7: AIIMS Jammu today welcomed its new MBBS batch with a Freshers’ Day celebration, marking the beginning of their academic journey in the medical profession.
The event was held at the institute’s auditorium in the presence of faculty members and senior students.
Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Prof (Dr) DN Sharma, presided over the function and congratulated the students on securing admission to one of the country’s premier medical institutions.
In his address, he said that medicine is not just a career but a lifelong commitment to service, ethics and learning and urged students to always keep patient welfare at the centre of their work.
Prof Sharma stressed the need for discipline, sincerity and humility in medical education, adding that technical skills must be matched with compassion, good communication and ethical conduct.
He also encouraged students to take part in academic, clinical, research and co-curricular activities to become well-rounded medical professionals and make the best use of the facilities and faculty available at AIIMS Jammu.
He called upon senior students and faculty to guide and mentor the new batch and help create a supportive and inclusive academic environment on the campus.
The programme also made colourful with cultural performances by senior students, including dances and skits, showcasing the vibrant campus life. A ceremonial lamp-lighting marked the formal induction of the new MBBS batch.
The Freshers’ Day celebration reflected AIIMS Jammu’s commitment to producing competent and compassionate doctors and strengthening medical education and healthcare services in the region.
