AIIMS Jammu hosts 6th Annual Congress of Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Surgeons

JAMMU, Apr 27: The All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu announced the organization of the “6th Annual Congress Asia-Pacific Orthopaedic Association Young Surgeons Forum India Chapter,” marking a significant milestone in the Orthopaedic Surgeons’ community of Jammu and Kashmir.
This prestigious conference, the first of its kind hosted by AIIMS Jammu, brought together eminent orthopaedic surgeons across J&K, the rest of India and the international faculty. The event started yesterday and concluded today.
The event was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony by the Director of AIIMS, Jammu, Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, along with Dr Jamal Ashraf (president of APOA), chairperson Dr Sanjeev Gupta, organizing secretary Dr Rashid Anjum and other eminent orthopaedic faculties.
The theme of the conference was “Current Controversies in Orthopaedics”. The event aimed to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation in orthopaedic surgery, fostering a spirit of academic excellence and professional growth among young orthopaedic surgeons.
The conference provided attendees with comprehensive insights into the current trends and future directions of orthopaedic practice. Topics such as trauma management, complex intra-articular fracture fixations and rehabilitation strategies were explored in depth, offering participants a unique opportunity to enhance their clinical proficiency and surgical expertise.
The conference delved into the transformative role of technology in orthopaedic surgery. Rapid technological advancements, such as robotic-assisted surgery, 3D printing, etc., are revolutionising how orthopaedic procedures are performed and how patient care is delivered. Faculty from IIT, Jammu, attended the conference and delivered lectures.
Expert-led sessions have covered topics such as minimally invasive spine surgeries, tumour surgeries like limb salvage surgeries, deformity corrections, and paediatric orthopaedic surgeries. These sessions have provided attendees with evidence-based guidelines and best practices for managing a broad spectrum of orthopaedic conditions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality care to their patients.
