AICTE, DRDO continue to be headless: Govt admits

NEW DELHI, May 6:
Various organisations, including the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Defence Research and Development Organisation have been headless for the past many months, the government today told the Lok Sabha.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh admitted that the posts of Chairman, AICTE and Director General, DRDO had been lying vacant since January 5 and February 1 this year respectively.
Also the posts of Chairman, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Director, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) were lying vacant since November 28, 2014 and October 21, 2014.
Necessary steps have been initiated for expeditious selection of regular incumbents for these posts inter alia including advertisement inviting applications, constitution of Search-cum-Selection Committee etc as per the post-specific extant procedure, he said in reply to a question about the steps taken by the Government to find suitable candidates.
Order for the appointment of Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghtan had already been issued on April 29, 2015, the Members were informed. (UNI)
